There are actually a number of options for setting up Registration on your WishList Member site.
Registration URL
You can use the Registration URLs that are created in the Membership Levels section. These unique URLs can be added as links to any page or post and will link to a page displaying the corresponding registration form.
Note: These Registration URLs are best used for Free Membership Levels or to give out free Memberships to trusted people. Anyone using that URL by itself can get a free membership. If you use this URL as part of the Simple Integration you'll be fine and the URL changes when used.
Login Widget
The Register link in the Login Widget directs to the Non-Member page. The Non-Members page is where users will get directed to if they do NOT have access to the area they are attempting to view. The thought behind having the Register link direct to the Non-Members page is that you will likely have a link to register on your Non-Members page. This is becasue you will want to give the option for users to sign up and register on the Non-Members page as they obviously want access to the protected content becasue they clicked on an area they do not have access to.
Ideally you want that page to let people know: It's protected content, that they need to log in (if they are members), and here's how to sign up.
You are also able to add the register merge codes to the content of your pages and posts.
To do that, use the following code:
Registration Form Code: [register_level]
Please note that within the registration merge code you will need to switch the word "level" with the name of the membership level you are wanting to appear.
So for example, if you had a membership level called "silver", your registration merge code would be:
[register_silver]
This process creates a Registration form on any post or page with only a few clicks and minimal effort.
Note: Much like the Registration URL suggestion above, this is best used for Free Membership Levels or to give out free Memberships to trusted people. Anyone using an embedded Registration form can get a free membership.
Full Integration
We currently integrate FULLY with PayPal, ClickBank, Premium Web Cart, RedOakCart, Ultra Cart and QuickPayPro (Cydec). Also, we offer Full Integration with 1ShoppingCart provided you get the version with the API. 1SC can upgrade you if needed.
Note: 1ShoppingCart can take up to 24 hours to communicate. Hence someone could not pay yet get access for up to another 24 hours.
Basically, the difference between SIMPLE and FULL integration is that with FULL integration, if somebody cancels their payment or the payment stops for some reason or another, those systems will communicate back with WishList Member and cancel them within the membership site & block their access.
But with SIMPLE integration, if a user cancels payment or doesn't pay for some reason you will have to manually cancel them within WishList Member.
Also, the link used to register will NOT be protected as it is in the FULL integration process. So, you will need to keep an eye on your payment account when new Members register to ensure tey have paid and not filled in the registration form is a friend who has paid copied and sent the Registration URL to them.
Please note that we have many helpful videos in our Customer Center that will walk you through many of these scenarios. You can view these videos on the right hand side of this site:
If you are setting up Registration with the FULL integration options, then a user will actually click on the payment link/button you create during the integration process which is done in the WishList Integration Tab.
Once a user clicks the payment link/button, they are taken to pay at the Payment Processor site and then sent back to your site to register.
Here is the FULL Integration Registration Process:
1) Person clicks Payment button/link 2) Person pays through Payment Processor 3) Person is redirected to a page where they can select their username and password 4) Person is automatically logged into WishList site 5) Email is sent to member with their username and password
Here are the Integration Videos for the FULL Integration Options:
NOTE the video shows the login info being created automatically. In the newest versions of WL Member, the user is able to select their own username and password.
ClickBank (Note that you must be signed into the Customer Center to view these videos): http://customers.wishlistproducts.com/29-integrating-clickbank/
All you need to do is deactivate the license in your testing site (or original site) and then reactivate it on the new URL.
So many of our customers...
1) Build their site first on a test URL. 2) Configure the settings the way they want with WL Member. 3) Deactivate their license. 4) Move the whole WP site to another location 5) Activate their WL Member license to the new URL
This process will ensure that all the WL Member settings stay in tact and that your license will work properly.
Deactivating the plugin is simple and you can do it from within the WL Member dashboard. Here is a screenshot:
Typically, when you have login issues for one member and not another, they are the result of one or both of the following settings:
1. Expiry
Is the membership level that these members are attempting to log into set to expire? If so, those members may be past their expiry date and, therefore, unable to login. Keep in mind that a recurring payment does not reset their expiry. For this reason, we recommend that you set any membership levels with a recurring payment to "No Expiry Date". That way, you won't have to worry about login issues as result of expiry... PLUS, if a member cancels their payment, they will be cancelled from that membership level by WLM and won't be able to access that content... so, you're covered there.
To check and see if this is the issue causing your login troubles, we recommend setting your membership level to "No Expiry Date" and then attempting to login as one of the members who is currently blocked. If you can login... then, this is where your login issues stem from and you'll need to adjust accordingly.
2. IP Login Limit.
Newer versions of WLM have an IP Login Limit feature which allows you to set how many different IP addresses one member can login from. This is protection to keep members from passing their login details to their friends. This can also cause login issues with members, because they may access your site from work, home, a library, etc. For example, if your IP Login Limit setting is set to "2"... and, they attempt to access your site from 3 different places... they'll be blocked and their account disabled for 24 hours.
Keep in mind that many Internet Service Providers , today, use what's called a "Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP)". This allows your computer to detect and use IP addresses dynamically when accessing the internet. What that means is that your users could even be accessing your site from the SAME computer, however, since their ISP uses DHCP, every time they access the internet, even on the same computer, it's possible that they get assigned a unique IP address, which can trigger the IP Login Limit.
And, if they're using multiple computers in the same house... each computer will access the internet using a different IP address.
To check and see if this is the issue causing your login troubles, we recommend disabling the IP Login Limit feature in the "Settings" tab of WLM and attempting to login as one of the members who is currently blocked. If you can login... then, this is where your login issues stem from and you'll need to "play" with this setting until you find the right number for your members and their internet usage habits.
Also, keep in mind, if you want to limit the amount of IP Logins, that function fundamentally relies on the IP address that is accessing a site, there's really no way to "fix" this. It's a fundamental limitation of the idea and system, in general because, there's no way for a web server to determine WHO is using a certain IP address. For example, is it the same member who paid for access simply using a different computer or getting assigned a different IP address or, is it a completely different person who got passed access details and is accessing your site from their computer? There's no way to answer that question.
Finally, chances are, that your login issues are a result of BOTH of these settings. You'll want to be sure to test them separately and simultaneously to see if it's expiry, ip login limiting, or a combination of both.
That said, if you run these tests and these members aren't able to login, then, let us know and we can look into it further.
After you purchased WL Member, you would have been sent an email that included your Activation Key and purchase email address. You'll need this info once you've installed WL Member so keep it handy.
From here, you'll need to install WL Member. I highly recommend you watch the installation video which walks you through this entire process. You can find it here:
If you've already installed WL Member, then just fast forward the video to approximiately the 9 minute mark.
This is where it begins to talk about activating the plugin using your activation key (which was sent in the email).
Once you enter your activation key and email address, it will check with our servers to validate the key and then it will unlock WL Member. From there you are ready to go :)
d. Enter the License Key and email address associated to the WishList Member PlugIn accordingly and click the “Save WishList Products Key” button to complete the activation.
If you don't know your login details to the Customer Center, please submit a support ticket and one of our team members will resend you the information promptly.
The information will be resent to the email we have associated with your account.
If you want to send a user their login info, you will need to CHANGE the password and then send it along to them with their User Name in a manual email. This is because Passwords can never be viewed, only changed.
You need to change a Member's password in the Members section and then email it to them manually.
Here are two Screenshots that will help explain how to do this:
